These terms are between you, the business that opens the account, and Echo Reach (Pty) Ltd, trading as Be Boaz. When you create an account, you accept them on behalf of that business and confirm you have authority to do so. We record which version you accepted, when, and the name and email of the person who accepted, and keep that record for 3 years after the account closes. Our Refund and Cancellation Policy is part of these terms.
Boaz is a planning tool, not a verification agency
The scorecard Be Boaz calculates is indicative. Only a SANAS-accredited verification agency (or, for micro-enterprises, CIPC or a sworn affidavit) can establish your B‑BBEE status, and its finding can differ from ours. Don't present a Be Boaz level as your B‑BBEE status in a tender, to a customer or to any authority. Misrepresenting B‑BBEE status is an offence under section 13O of the B‑BBEE Act. Plans and spend suggestions are estimates to help you decide. They are not legal, tax or financial advice.
Check what Boaz reads
Boaz reads certificates automatically and flags documents it isn't sure about, but it can still misread one. You are responsible for checking the details before you rely on them, and for the accuracy of the figures you enter.
What you may upload
Only documents you are entitled to hold and use for your B‑BBEE compliance, such as certificates and affidavits your suppliers gave you. Don't upload anything unlawful, or try to reach another customer's data or disrupt the service.
When we process information for you
For supplier documents and scorecard figures, you are the responsible party and we are your operator under POPIA. We will:
- process that information only to provide Be Boaz to you, and not for any other purpose;
- keep it confidential and protect it with reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including separating each customer's data at database level;
- use only the sub-operators named in our Privacy Policy, each bound by a written agreement, and tell you before we add another;
- tell you without undue delay if we find it has been accessed without authorisation;
- help you answer requests from people or companies whose information you hold;
- delete it within 90 days after the agreement ends, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your data stays yours
You own the information you put into Be Boaz. You can ask for a copy or for deletion at any time.
Paid plans open on 15 November 2026
Until then, Be Boaz is free. Nothing is charged until you choose a plan and agree to its price at checkout. Exempted micro-enterprises (EMEs, with annual turnover of R10 million or less) use Be Boaz free.
The first 100 businesses pay R950 a month or R9,500 a year, locked
The first 100 businesses to start a paid plan get the founding price:
- Monthly: R950 a month, charged when you start and then once a month. The minimum term is one month.
- Annual: R9,500 for 12 months, paid up front. The minimum term is 12 months, unless the Consumer Protection Act gives you the right to end the annual plan early.
The founding price stays the same for as long as your subscription runs without a break. A subscription has a break when it ends: you cancel and the period you paid for runs out, or a payment is still unpaid 30 days after it was due. Your plan starts as soon as the first payment goes through.
Plans renew automatically until you cancel
The monthly plan renews every month. The annual plan renews for another 12 months at the price you're on, unless you cancel before the renewal date. Between 40 and 80 business days before an annual plan renews, roughly two to four months ahead, we email you the renewal date, the price and how to cancel.
If the CPA applies to you, you can end the annual plan early
The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) doesn't apply to a transaction with a juristic person (a company, close corporation, partnership or trust) whose annual turnover or asset value is R2 million or more. Its section 14, on fixed-term agreements, doesn't apply between two juristic persons at all. Most businesses on a paid plan are companies above that threshold, so for them the annual plan runs its full 12 months.
If the CPA does apply to you, for example because you trade as a sole proprietor, we follow section 14:
- You may cancel the annual plan at any time on 20 business days' notice. We refund what you paid for the year, less R950 for each month or part of a month from the start of the year to the end of the notice period. That way you pay the monthly price for the time you used, and nothing more. We send the refund within 5 business days after the notice period ends. If the months used come to more than you paid, there's no refund and you owe nothing further.
- At the end of the year, your plan doesn't renew for another 12 months unless you tell us you want it to. Otherwise it continues month to month, at R950 a month if you're a founding member, and you can cancel at any time.
Cancel any time and keep access to the end of what you've paid for
Cancel from your account, or email us at info@beboaz.co.za. Cancelling stops the next payment. Your plan runs to the end of the month or year you've already paid for, then ends. We don't refund the rest of that period, except under the First-Month Guarantee, a cooling-off right or section 14 of the CPA. Our Refund and Cancellation Policy sets out each case.
When a paid plan ends, your account becomes read-only. You can still sign in and see your records, but you can't add or change anything unless you start a plan again. Your data stays until you delete it or close your account.
If a payment doesn't go through, you get 7 days and keep your data
If a payment doesn't go through, we email you and you have 7 days to pay, for example with another card. Be Boaz works as normal during those 7 days. After that, your account is read-only until the payment goes through: you can sign in and see everything, but not add or change anything. A payment that doesn't go through never deletes your data.
If a payment is still unpaid 30 days after it was due, we end the subscription and tell you by email. You won't owe the unpaid amount. Your data stays in the read-only account until you delete it or close the account, but a founding price ends with the subscription.
Other plans can change price, with 30 days' notice
A founding price doesn't change while your subscription runs without a break. For any other plan, we may change the price. We'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. On a monthly plan it applies from your first payment after those 30 days; on an annual plan, from your next renewal. If you don't want to pay it, cancel before then.
No VAT is added to our prices
Echo Reach (Pty) Ltd isn't registered for VAT, so the price you see is the full price and our invoices show no VAT. If we register for VAT, a founding price stays the same: the VAT comes out of the locked amount, and nothing is added on top. From then, our invoices show the VAT included, so a VAT-registered business can claim it back. On other plans, adding VAT would be a price change, with the 30 days' notice above.
The Boaz First-Month Guarantee refunds your first payment
Upload 3 supplier certificates and your year's figures in your first 7 days. If Boaz isn't worth it to you by day 30, email us and we'll refund your first month in full. One refund per company.
On the annual plan, the same conditions refund the whole R9,500.
In these terms, that means:
- the 7 days and the 30 days count from the day your first payment goes through;
- by day 7 after your first payment, 3 supplier certificates are logged in Be Boaz and your year's figures are saved in the scorecard. Certificates and figures you added before you paid, for example while Be Boaz was free, count too;
- you email us to ask for the refund by day 30;
- “one refund per company” means one per company registration number, on any account.
A guarantee refund ends your paid plan, and goes back to the card you paid with. How to ask, and how fast the money arrives, is in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Sole proprietors can cancel within 7 days of buying
If you're a natural person, such as a sole proprietor, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) lets you cancel a paid plan within 7 days of buying it, without a reason and without penalty. We refund you in full within 30 days. We honour this even if you've already started using the plan. If the CPA applies to you and you bought after we marketed to you directly, its section 16 gives you 5 business days. Where both apply, you get whichever period ends later.
Talk to us before you dispute a charge
If a charge looks wrong, email us first. We can correct a mistake or refund you faster than a bank dispute can. If you dispute a charge with your bank (a chargeback), we may make your account read-only until the bank decides. Your data isn't deleted. If the bank finds the charge was valid, it stands. If the bank reverses it, the period that payment covered ends. You can't get the same payment back twice, from us and from your bank.
Card details stay with our payment provider
Paid plans are paid by card through our payment provider, which handles card details under the card industry's security standard (PCI DSS). Be Boaz never sees or stores your full card number or security code. We receive only what we need to run your plan: whether a payment went through, the amount, the date and a reference. We'll name the provider in our Privacy Policy before we take the first payment.
We email a receipt for every payment. You can save or print these terms, and your receipts, for your records.
Availability
We work to keep Be Boaz running and your data backed up, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. We may change or remove features, and will give notice before removing anything you pay for.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including a lower-than-expected verification outcome or a lost tender. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or R5,000, whichever is more. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or ECTA where they apply to you.
You can close your account at any time
Email us to close your account. Closing it ends these terms and cancels any paid plan, and we delete your data within 90 days. We keep only the record of which terms you accepted, with the name and email of who accepted, for 3 years, and anything the law requires us to keep, such as payment records. Our Privacy Policy says what we keep and for how long.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why. If we close your account for any other reason, or stop offering Be Boaz, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund the part of your paid period you haven't used. The limits on our liability still apply after the agreement ends.
If the Be Boaz business is sold, these terms go with it
We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over the Be Boaz business. We'll email you before we do, and your founding price and the rest of these terms carry over unchanged. You may transfer your account to another business only with our written agreement.
We'll email you before these terms change
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email account owners at least 30 days before the change takes effect and say what changed. The version at the top of this page changes with it. A change never ends a founding price. If you keep using Be Boaz after the change takes effect, the new version applies to you. If you don't accept it, cancel before then and we'll refund the part of your paid period you haven't used.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and South African courts have jurisdiction. We don't subscribe to an alternative dispute resolution code. Email us first and we'll try to sort it out.
